Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Ryan Patterson hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning, giving the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 7-5 win over the Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium Thursday. The B-Mets lost for the third time in four games.

New Hampshire (46-38) went ahead in the first on an Aaron Mathews sacrifice fly off Michael Devaney. However, Lastings Milledge led off the bottom of the first with a game-tying longball to center off Ricky Romero. The B-Mets (35-48) took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second when Drew Butera doubled, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.

The Fisher Cats got to Devaney again in the fifth when Manny Mayorson's RBI triple and Robinzon Diaz's run-scoring single put them ahead 3-2. Mark Kiger answered for Binghamton in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff triple before scoring the tying run on a wild pitch.

David Smith's two-run homer off Devaney in the sixth gave New Hampshire a 5-3 advantage. In the seventh, Kiger drove a Jean Machi offering to deep left-center for a double before Mike Carp followed with a double of his own, scoring Kiger. Caleb Stewart tied the score with Binghamton's third straight two-base hit, bringing in Carp with the tying run.

The game remained tied until the top of the 10th when reliever Joe Serfass (3-3) walked Chip Cannon before Patterson's blast.

Matt Roney (1-1) tossed two shutout innings for the win before Tracy Thorpe pitched a scoreless 10th for his fifth save in seven chances.

Friday, the B-Mets play the rubber game of their three-game set vs. the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
