Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have set a new franchise record for in-game marriage proposals during a season as eleven couples have gotten engaged at Waterfront Park, more than any other year in the 14-year history of the franchise.

With the eleventh marriage proposal in 45 games this season taking place on Thursday, July 5, the Thunder have established an all-time high, as well as a perfect success rate. The men have combined for a 1.000 batting average with all eleven of them receiving a reply of "Yes" to the delight of thousands of Thunder fans.

"All season long we hear phrases like ‘Play Ball' and ‘Go Thunder,'" said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. "But this season, we've also been hearing a lot of ‘Will you marry me?' It makes us proud to think that so many people feel Waterfront Park is such a special place that they would propose here at a Thunder game."

In 2005, the Thunder actually held a marriage ceremony on the field at Waterfront Park before a game. Following the service, the newlywed couple threw out the ceremonial first pitch as their first act together as husband and wife. The couple hosted their wedding reception in the Thunder's Yankee Club and Conference Center, a 100 person conference/party space on the Luxury Suite Level at Waterfront Park.

Fans interested in proposing at a Trenton Thunder game should contact the Thunder at 609-394-3300 ext. 101.

Tickets to all Trenton Thunder games are available by calling 609-394-3300 or can be purchased online at www.trentonthunder.com.
