New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The 7:05 PM Eastern League game scheduled for tonight at New Britain Stadium between the host Rock Cats and the visiting Portland Sea Dogs, has been cancelled due to rain and wet field conditions.

It is the second consecutive night that the central Connecticut skies opened, preventing the Rock Cats from doing baseball battle with Portland, the Boston Red Sox' Eastern League affiliate.

The two teams will now play a late afternoon Doubleheader tomorrow (July 6th), with the first pitch of Game 1 scheduled for 4:05 PM.

The Joe Mauer Bobblehead giveaway, originally scheduled for tonight, will happen at a future date that will be announced. Mauer is a former Rock Cat who won the 2006 American League Batting Title as a member of the Minnesota Twins.

Tomorrow afternoon's twin-bill will be comprised of tomorrow night's regularly scheduled game and last night's (July 4th) rained out contest. A make-up date for tonight's (July 5th) washout will be determined and announced at a later date.
