Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ)- Juan Miranda collected three hits and two RBI to lead the Trenton Thunder to a 5-4 win over the Altoona Curve on Thursday night at Waterfront Park in a game called due to rain in the 8th Inning. The win was the sixth in a row for the Thunder.

After Miranda gave Trenton (53-31) a 1-0 lead in the 1st Inning on an RBi double, Altoona (42-41) came back with two runs in the 3rd and 4th Innings off Thunder starter Jeff Marquez for a 4-2 lead. Miranda's second RBI hit made it 4-2 with Aarom Baldiris adding an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth to close the gap to 4-3. Marquez worked through six innings and then got help from the hitters as Trenton took the lead in the bottom of the sixth.

Trenton got their first two batters on with hits. C P.J. Pilittere ground out to bring home the tying run. Then after a steal of 3rd Base by LF Colin Curtis, 2B Gabe Lopez singled home the go-ahead run off reliever Wardell Starling (3-7), who took the loss allowing one run in 1/3 of an inning. Marquez (9-5) allowed four runs (one earned) for the win with one walk and three strikeouts. Jeff Kennard came on to pitch two scoreless innings of relief before the rain halted. That earned him his 6th save.

Trenton and Altoona wrap up their series on Friday at 7:05 PM. Alan Horne (8-3, 2.31) starts for the Thunder against the Curve's Josh Shortslef (2-7, 3.95).
