Awe Returns to Gladiators

Atlanta Gladiators News Release


The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Jon Awe has been reassigned to the team from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. In a separate transaction, Bryan Dobek has been released.

Since being recalled to Chicago on January 31st, Awe has collected one goal in one game while with the Wolves. In 7 games with Chicago this season, he has posted 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points. Awe was also scoreless in two AHL games in December while on recall.

Awe returns to the Gladiators where he leads Gwinnett blueliners in scoring with 44 points in 37 games. He has collected 20 goals and 24 assists for Gwinnett this season.

The Memphis, Tennessee native also holds the ECHL record for most power play goals in a season notching 17 this season. His 17 power play goals also set a new Gladiators team record for power play goals in a season while he continues leading the ECHL in that category.

Dobek has been released and returns to Fayetteville of the SPHL. In 35 games this season with the Gladiators, Dobek has collected 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points.

Awe should be available for the Gladiators for Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. tilt in Florida against the Everblades.
