No love lost between Steelheads and Wranglers

BOISE, Idaho - Don't look for cards and candy from the Steelheads this Valentine's Day as they'll have their game faces on to host the Las Vegas Wranglers. The Steelheads will hope to gain ground on their arch rival, who just took over second place in the league, and are in town to drop the puck on a three-game conference showdown. Idaho will try not to be as hospitable as they were last visit when Las Vegas took three games and six points out of Qwest Arena.

Steelheads Head Coach Derek Laxdal said, "Last time Vegas came in they swept us. We need to protect our home and match their intensity for all three games this week."

Head-to-Head: Idaho is 1-3-1-0 against Las Vegas this season.

Team Practice

The Steelheads will practice every day this week at Qwest Arena from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. All practices are open to the media and public.

Heart Felt

The Idaho Steelheads will kick off a one-of-a-kind jersey auction for St. Luke's Center for Heart and Vascular Health on Valentine's Day, February 14th. The team will wear the jerseys for the three-game series against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Silent auction tables will be set up on the concourse during the three games and fans may bid on their favorite player's jersey or buy it outright for $1,000. A jersey autographed by the entire Steelheads team will also be raffled off. The players will present their jerseys to the winning bidders immediately following the Saturday, February 17th game. A limited number of red ball caps with matching logos will be sold for the fundraiser and St. Luke's volunteers will hand out roses to the first 500 ladies through the doors on Wednesday night. All of the funds raised will go to St. Luke's for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart and vascular diseases and conditions.

Join "Voice of the Steelheads," Joe O'Donnell, on 1350 KTIK The Ticket every Tuesday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. for the Bud Light Sports Talk Show. Stay tuned on game nights as Joe will bring fans play-by-play live action for all 72 games; Color Commentator Bart Hull join Joe for home games, as will rink-side reporters Mark Broz and John MacMillan. Games can be heard via the Internet through the Steelheads website at www.idahosteelheads.com >. Games can also be watched live through a Webcast ($6 per view) - link also available from the Steelheads Website. CableOne Channel 17 will broadcast Friday games live and air all other games delayed the following day at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
