Austin Spurs Fall Short to Sioux Falls Skyforce

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Austin Spurs (21-15), presented by SWBC, fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (20-19) by a final score of 100-99 on the road Tuesday night.

San Antonio Spurs assignee Keldon Johnson scored a game-high 31 points in 35 minutes, while Spurs assignee Chimezie Metu tallied 11 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists in 37 minutes. Jeff Ledbetter added 17 points in 20 minutes.

Sioux Falls took a large lead to end the first quarter (21-13), but the Spurs were able to close the gap to six (48-42) by halftime. The Skyforce led for the entire first half.

One minute into the third quarter, the Spurs went on an 8-0 run to gain their first lead of the game (52-50). Austin outscored Sioux Falls 25-20 in the third and went into the final 12 minutes down by one point (68-67).

The score was tied at 93 with two minutes left in the fourth. After a free throw by Quinndary Weatherspoon put the Spurs up 96-95 at the 1:03 mark, Jarrett Jack went to the line for Sioux Falls and sank two foul shots to put the Skyforce up 97-96. With 17 seconds remaining in the game, Jack went back to the line and made another two free throws to give Sioux Falls a three-point advantage (99-96). On the next possession, Ledbetter was fouled on a three-point shot and made all three attempts from the charity stripe to tie the game at 99. Weatherspoon fouled Jack with one second on the clock, and Jack missed the first free throw but made the second to give Sioux Falls a one-point victory.

For Sioux Falls, Jack recorded 24 points and 7 assists in 32 minutes. Marcus Lee contributed 17 points and 6 rebounds in 37 minutes.
