February 25, 2020 - NBA G League (G League)
Maine Celtics News Release
Washington, DC - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, got key players back and blew the doors off of the Capital City Go-Go Tuesday, rolling to a 125-93 win.
Maine (27-10) was led by Tacko Fall, who recorded his 15th double-double of the season and 5th in the month of February. Fall finished with 18 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocked shots in the win. Jaysean Paige led all scorers with 27 points, while Bryce Brown added 24 in his return to the lineup. Trey Davis led the bench with 20 points, while Yante Maten added 12 in the win.
Capital City (20-18) was led by Ike Iroegbu with 20 points.
Tacko opened the game with a big dunk. The Red Claws fed Fall early and often, with Maine opening up an early 10-2 lead. Jaysean Paige hit a contested lay-up to help maintain a double-digit early lead. The Go-Go didn't give up, and Phil Booth's three-point play late in the period cut the deficit to 23-17. That would be Maine's lead at the end of the 1st quarter.
In the 2nd, Tacko started with another emphatic dunk. A missed lay-up turned in to a Trey Davis lay-up. Maten backed his man down for an easy bucket to put Maine up 34-25. A Paige steal led to a Brown trey, and Paige followed that up with a three of his own. The Red Claws went on an 8-0 run, forcing a Go-Go timeout. Brown's three put Maine up 52-34, and Tacko's dunk put Maine up 20. John Bohannon's bucket made it 60-34. Waters' three gave Maine a 67-42 halftime lead. The Red Claws scored 44 points in the 2nd quarter alone, shooting 61% (25-41) from the floor and 8-15 from three-point range.
Anzejs Pasecniks fouled out of the game just 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter. Brown and Maten paced the offense early in the period. Wayne Blackshear's bucket put Maine up 29. Waters' bucket put Maine up 31 at 81-50. The Claws would extend the lead from there, with Tacko sending home a vicious dunk plus the foul, and Davis setting up Paige for an alley-oop dunk. Paige scored 10 points in the 3rd, and Maine led 96-63 after 3.
Capital City went on a run to open the 4th quarter, with Noah Allen hitting a three to cut it to 98-72. Davis snapped a 13-0 Go-Go run with a lay-up. Fall and Waters righted the ship for Maine, and Davis scored 5 straight points to put the game away for good. Maine wound up shooting 53% (46-86) from the field, 33% (10-30) from three-point range, and 14-18 from the free throw line. Capital City shot just 36% (35-97) from the floor, 23% (9-39) from downtown, and 10-13 from the charity stripe.
The Red Claws return home for their next four games, starting Thursday vs. Lakeland. Tickets are on sale by calling 207-210-6655 or visiting MaineRedClaws.com.
