Warriors Acquire Jonathan Simmons in Trade

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors have acquired Jonathan Simmons and the returning player rights to Chris Walker in exchange for the returning player rights to Antonius Cleveland and Jared Cunningham and Santa Cruz's 2020 first round pick (via ACC) to the Rio Grande Vipers, it was announced today.

Simmons spent two years with the D-League Austin Toros/Spurs (2013-15) before signing with the San Antonio Spurs (2015-17) where he averaged 6.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in 16.9 minutes. After becoming an unrestricted free agent, Simmons signed with the Orlando Magic where he spent two seasons (2017-19) before being traded to the Philadelphia Sixers.

Cleveland spent part of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons with the Santa Cruz Warriors averaging 18.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists. Cleveland earned a call-up with the Atlanta Hawks before returning to Santa Cruz during the 2018-19 season. Cleveland signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks for the 2019-20 and is currently averaging 14.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists for the Texas Legends. Cunningham spent the first part of the 2019-20 season with Santa Cruz before leaving the team to pursue other opportunities.
