Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, came up short on the road against the Grand Rapids Drive, 116-83.
While Grand Rapids was able to build multiple ten-point leads in the first half, Windy City refused let the deficit grow further in the early going, increasing their offensive efficiency to trim the lead to as little as two in the second quarter.
The match-up read close in most statistical categories over the first 24 minutes with the Drive holding slight leads in both field goal percentage (.422 to .359) and rebounding (28-21), resulting in a 48-44 Grand Rapids lead at the half.
Both teams struggled to consistently knock down shots from three-point range in the opening two quarters.
Heading up the scoring for the Bulls in the first half were Ferrakohn Hall with ten points and four rebounds, and Justin Simon with ten points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Leading the way for the Drive were Todd Withers with 11 points and five rebounds and Adam Woodbury with five points and ten rebounds.
Withers then caught fire from the outside for Grand Rapids in the third quarter. The 6'8" forward out of Queens University scored 14 points in the frame including four three-pointers, as the Drive outscored the Bulls 37-17 coming out of the halftime locker room to carry a 85-61 lead into the fourth.
The shooting cooled even further for Windy City, hitting on just .313 of their shots through 36 minutes.
Grand Rapids used a 53-35 rebounding advantage and a 29-14 lead in bench points to extend their lead over the final 12 minutes and take the win at home.
For the Drive, Withers led all scorers with 30 points and five rebounds. Woodbury finished with nine points and 19 rebounds.
Jaron Blossomgame ended with 24 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Bulls. Simon chipped in 14 points.
Windy City (15-22) will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to visit the Swarm this Friday night before finishing out the road trip in Delaware against the Blue Coats.
