
Austin Spurs Come up Short to Memphis Hustle

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Austin Spurs (15-12), presented by SWBC, fell to the Memphis Hustle (21-7) by a final score of 119-109 on the road Saturday night.
Off the bench, Dedric Lawson posted 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals in 26 minutes, and Kavion Pippen contributed 15 points and 6 rebounds in 17 minutes. San Antonio Spurs assignee Luka Samanic recorded 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals in 26 minutes, while Spurs assignee Keldon Johnson tallied 14 points and 6 rebounds in 30 minutes.
The two teams battled back and forth in the first quarter, as the lead changed six times and the score was tied on three occasions. With Austin leading 20-18 at the 5:08 mark, Memphis went on a 16-4 run over the next 4:13 to gain a double-digit lead. Austin scored the final 5 points of the quarter to cut the lead in half and end the first down 34-29.
Austin tied the game back up at 41 in the second, but a 13-0 Memphis run covering 2:15 gave the Hustle the team's largest lead of the first half. The Spurs once again closed the quarter strong, scoring the final 8 points and cutting the Hustle lead to 60-57 at halftime.
The Hustle used an 11-0 run in the early portion of the third to push the lead to 16 (81-65) with 6:30 to go. Austin cut the lead to 8 on multiple occasions in the third and fourth quarters but came no closer as Memphis led by as many as 17 late in the game.
For Memphis, Jarrod Uthoff had a game-high 25 points to go along with 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in 34 minutes. Dusty Hannahs put up 22 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals in 36 minutes in the team's win.
