
Hustle Bounce Back with Win over Austin Spurs

Southaven, Miss. - After dropping the first of a home back-to-back, the Memphis Hustle (21-7) bounced back by defeating the Austin Spurs (15-12) 119-109 Saturday night at Landers Center. The win marks the Hustle's 18th by double digits and the team is now 11-2 at home on the year.
The opening stretch of the game went back-and-forth as the teams exchanged the lead six times. With Austin leading 20-18 at the 5:08 mark, Memphis went on a 16-4 run over the next 4:13 to gain a double digit lead, but Austin scored the final five points of the quarter to cut the lead in half. Austin tied the game back up at 41-41 in the second, but a 13-0 Memphis run covering 2:15 gave the Hustle its largest lead of the first half. The Spurs once again closed the quarter strong, scoring the final eight points of the second quarter and cutting the Hustle lead to 60-57 at halftime.
The Hustle used an 11-0 run in the early portion of the third to push the lead to 16 (81-65) with 6:30 to go. Austin would cut the lead to eight on multiple occasions in the third and fourth quarters, but would come no closer as Memphis led by as many as 17 late in the game.
Jarrod Uthoff followed up his 11th double-double of the season with a productive 25-point effort that included eight boards, six assists and a pair of steals. Uthoff shot 11-of-15 from the field and 3-of-5 from long range. Dusty Hannahs added 22 points and a career-high four steals. In just 23 minutes of play, John Konchar produced 10 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Yuta Watanabe poured in 13 points while Marquis Teague (12 points), Shaq Buchanan (11 points) and Ahmad Caver (11 points) reached double figures off the bench.
Memphis native Dedric Lawson led the Spurs with 15 points and eight rebounds. Spurs assignees Luka Samanic and Keldon Johnson joined Kenny Williams in 14-point efforts. Angel Rodriguez added 12 points and six assists.
