UC Health Stadium - Florence, KY
Game #67 - Home Game #41 (26-40), (20-20)

Last time out...
The Freedom fell behind 11-1 and could not come all the way back in a 13-8 loss Sunday night. The Beach Bums scored the first four runs of the game with two in the second and two in the fifth. Two errors by the Freedom on one play opened the door to two runs scoring for Traverse City in the second. Then in the fifth Jeff DeBlieux tripled to start the frame. Rob Benedict doubled him home and Vargas drove him in with a sacrifice fly. A Sam Eberle RBI single in the sixth cut the deficit to 4-1 but the Beach Bums exploded for six runs in the seventh. They hit three home runs in the inning, including a three-run shot off the bat of Jose Vargas. A Vargas RBI double in the top of the eighth made it 11-1. Adam Taylor launched a three-run home run and Rob Kelly hit a two-run homer in the eighth to cut the deficit to 11-5. Both teams scored two runs in the ninth and Buddy Sosnoskie homered for Florence.
For Starters...
Peter Gehle is making his 14th start of the season for the Freedom. He is coming off a no-decision against the Gateway Grizzlies on July 30. In that start he went six and two thirds innings, scattering seven hits and giving up five runs, three of which were earned in a 7-6 loss for Florence. Gehle is looking for his first win since July 6. He faced Traverse City back on May 20 where he got a no-decision, going six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out five as the Freedom won 4-3. The left-hander has surrendered nine home runs this year, the third most in the league. Gehle, 26, is a former 27th round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2010 out of Azusa Pacific University. The Flagstaff, Arizona native spent two years in the White Sox organization before joining Sioux Falls of the American Association in 2012. He spent 2013 in the AA as well, this time with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
Trying to avoid the sweep...
The Freedom need to win tonight to avoid being swept at home for the second time this season. The Frontier Greys are the only team to sweep Florence at home this season, taking all three games June 20-22.
That's offensive...
Last night's 13-8 defeat featured the most combined runs (21) in a Freedom game this season. Florence surrendered a season-high 16 hits last night.
Breaking even...
The Freedom's record at home is now 20-20 on the season. The Freedom need to win tonight to avoid falling below .500 at home for the first time all season.
Defensive struggles...
The Beach Bums (.965) and the Freedom (.967) have the two worst fielding percentages in the Frontier League.
Wrong kind of series streak...
With yesterday's loss the Freedom have dropped four consecutive series and three straight at home.
Five or more...
When the Freedom score five or more runs in a game they have a record of 16-9 this season. But when they score fewer than three runs they have a 3-20 record.
Offensive woes...
The Freedom's .230 team batting average is the lowest in the Frontier League. They have scored 252 runs, the fewest in the league. Their 83 doubles are also the fewest in the league
Tonight's Special Jersey Numbers...
The Freedom are wearing special jerseys tonight for Striking Out Cancer Night presented by Thorntons. As a result, three jersey numbers have changed just for tonight. Pete Levitt is wearing #30, Preston Overbey is wearing #7 and Zak Blair is wearing #4.
