(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Houston Astros today selected the contract of Sugar Land Skeeters outfielder Jose Siri.

The 26-year-old, who's spent nine consecutive seasons at the minor league level, is set to make his first stint on an active Major League roster. Siri has joined the Astros as they begin a three-game road series against the San Diego Padres.

Siri currently leads Triple A West in extra-base hits (49) and total bases (200), is tied for first in runs (70), is second in RBIs (72) and stolen bases (24), is third in hits (115) and doubles (29) and is ninth in batting average .318. He's logged a hit in 19 of his last 21 games, hitting .364 with three home runs and 22 RBIs over that stretch.

On Friday, he was named the Triple A West August Player of the Month. He's one of two players in all of Triple A with at least 15 home runs and 20 stolen bases.

The Astros signed Siri to a minor league contract in December of this past offseason. He was originally signed by the Cincinnati Reds as a non-drafted free agent in 2012 from Sabana Grande de Boya, Dominican Republic, and was in the Reds system from 2013-19, reaching up to the Triple A level.

Tickets for the rest of the Skeeters' 2021 regular season - including the Triple A Final Stretch - are on sale and can be purchased by visiting sugarlandskeeters.com/tickets.
