Asheville-West Virginia Game Wiped out Due to Weather

CHARLESTON, WV - Wednesday night's game between the West Virginia Power and Asheville Tourists at Appalachian Power Park has been postponed, due to rain.

The game will be made up on Wednesday, May 2nd when the teams return to Asheville. The Tourists will host a double-header at McCormick Field on that date with the first of two seven inning games starting at 5:35 p.m. Gates for the double header will open at 5:00 p.m. The series will conclude with single games on Thursday and Friday - each set for 7:05 p.m. starts. Asheville will then wrap up the home-stand with four games against Lexington.

In the meantime, Asheville will return home to Historic McCormick Field this Thursday as the Tourists kick off a four-game home stand with the Rome Braves with a 7:05 p.m. start. In keeping with Thirsty Thursday tradition, selected beers and Pepsi products are just $1 each. The two teams will return to action on Friday night with a 7:05 p.m. game that will feature hot dogs for just $1. On Saturday night, the series continues with a 6:05 p.m. start in which the first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a fleece blanket, compliments of Pepsi. The four-game set will conclude on Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. game at McCormick Field. Following the game, kids can run the bases and also take part in our post-game autograph session.

After a 1-3 start, the Tourists (9-4) have won eight of their last 9 games and are just 1/2 game behind Charleston in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.
