Rome Emperors News Release

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves dropped two games Wednesday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium to the Savannah Sand Gnats. The final score of the first game was 4-3 and was the completion of last night's suspended contest. The final in game two was 2-0. Savannah sweeps the three game series.

The Sand Gnats put two runs on the scoreboard in the third inning of game one thanks to an RBI triple by Aderlin Rodriguez and a sacrifice fly by Dustin Lawley. Rome answered back to make it a 2-1 game in the bottom of the inning on a two out RBI single by Brandon Drury. The Braves tied the game in the fourth on a ground out to score Elmer Reyes and took the lead in the fifth on an RBI groundout by Edison Sanchez. Savannah jumped back on top in the seventh with two runs on an RBI double by Brian Harrison and a fielder's choice groundout to score T.J. Rivera. The Savannah bullpen shut down Rome the rest of way for the 4-3 victory. Camerana (1-0) gets the win for Savannah while Ernesto Silva (0-1) is hit with the loss for Rome.

In game two, Savannah posted two runs in the seventh highlighted by RBI singles from Gregory Pron and Travis Taijeron. That's all the Sand Gnats would need as their pitching staff shutout Rome for the 2-0 final. Savannah's Rafael Montero (1-1) earns the win and A.J. Holland (1-2) is tagged with the tough loss for Rome.

Rome hits the road for a four game series in Asheville and returns home on Tuesday April 24th to begin a seven game homestand. For information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
