LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The bullpen couldn't hold a 1-0 lead in the 6th inning, and Greensboro piled on the runs to take a 9-1 victory on get-away day at FirstEnergy Park.

Ethan Stewart exited in-line for the victory after tossing five shutout innings to begin the ballgame, but four runs in the 6th inning, three runs in the 7th inning and two more runs in the 8th inning gave Greensboro more than enough offense to win the ballgame.

The BlueClaws scored a run in the first inning on a double and then back-to-back base hits to take an early 1-0 lead, but that would be all the offense they could muster on a Wednesday afternoon matinee in front of 2,365 fans.

A point of levity for the BlueClaws came in the 9th inning when infielder Carlos Perdormo entered the game as a relief pitcher. Perdomo allowed a lead-off double, but three consecutive flyouts ended the inning without a run scoring. The last time a position player pitched for the BlueClaws was September 5, 2009 at Delmarva when Brian Gump pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning.

The BlueClaws complete their first homestand of the season with a 4-3 record. Their overall record to begin the season is 6-8 and they will look to improve upon that when they head to Hagerstown to begin a four-game series beginning Thursday.

Lakewood will send Colin Kleven (1-1, 2.45) to the mound to battle Hagerstown's Christopher McKenzie (0-1, 10.50). First pitch for Thursday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
