Asheville Tourists News Release

Asheville, NC-- Leading 7-5 heading to the sixth inning, everything appeared to be going smooth for the Asheville Tourists. They erased an early 3-0 deficit, hit a pair of monster Home Runs, and were playing great defense. Unfortunately, the Lexington Legends put together a two- out rally that sucked the air right out of McCormick Field.

Eight batters in a row came to the plate with two outs in the sixth, and the Legends plated five of them. Of the eight batters, only two reached base via a hit; both were singles. The Tourists issued three walks, one hit batter, and an error allowing the rally to go on.

In the top of the seventh, Lexington plated three more two out runs and took a commanding 14-7 lead. The Legends tacked on an insurance run in the ninth. Asheville did not score in the final four innings and what looked to be a promising education day ended in a disappointing defeat.

Correlle Prime launched his league-leading 11th Home Run in the bottom of the first; a three run shot to deep centerfield. In the second, Raimel Tapia put the Tourists in front with a two run smash over the right-centerfield scoreboard. With the game tied 5-5 in the fifth, Max White gave Asheville their last lead with a two run single back up the middle.

Alex Balog fought through a tough first inning and came back to retire 12 of 13 batters at one stretch. Balog left with two outs in the sixth and the Legends took advantage. Lexington's starter Luke Farrell took home a no-decision as he lasted just 4.1 innings and surrendered seven runs.

Asheville now hits the road for seven straight beginning on Thursday night in Charleston, South Carolina. It will be the first time this year the Tourists and the RiverDogs square off.
