Louisville Bats News Release
MOOSIC, PA - Aristides Aquino doubled and homered but the Louisville Bats (36-53) couldn't overcome the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (44-46), dropping game six 8-6 on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field.
After sitting the Bats down in order to open the game, the RailRiders offense got to work early, scoring five runs with two outs in the home half of the inning, highlighted by a two-run homerun off the bat of Armando Alvarez to take an early 5-0 lead.
The Scranton Wilkes-Barre lead would not last long as Louisville would answer with four runs of its own in the top of the second. Lorenzo Cedrola brought the first run in with an RBI single before TJ Friedl and Jose Barrero brought runs in with back-to-back base knocks, Friedl with an RBI double and Barrero with a two RBI single to cut the deficit to just one, down 5-4 through the first two innings.
The RailRiders scratched a single run across in the bottom of the second and third innings to extend their lead to three at 7-4.
Aristides Aquino smacked a line-drive double to the left field wall to lead off the fifth inning before being brought home by Alejo Lopez with two outs in the frame to get back within two as Louisville found itself down 7-5.
Scranton Wilkes-Barre added another run via the long ball in the bottom of the fifth, extending its lead to 8-5. Louisville answered once more in the seventh as Aquino launched his first homerun of the series in the leadoff spot to get the Bats back within two at 8-6.
The Bats threatened once more, getting a runner on with one out in the ninth, but couldn't mount a rally for a comeback win and fell to the RailRiders 8-6.
Up next, the Louisville Bats will head home and enjoy a four-day break before kicking off a nine-game homestand with the first of three games against the Nashville Sounds on Friday, July 22 at 7:05 pm E.T at Louisville Slugger Field.
