AquaSox Drop Second Straight in Salem-Keizer

KEIZER, Ore. - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes jumped out to an early 7-0 lead over the AquaSox on Monday night. The AquaSox battled back, but fell short, in an 8-6 loss at Volcanoes Stadium before a crowd of 1,316.

Robinson Medrano batted 3-for-4 and gave Salem Keizer the early lead with a three run double in the bottom of the first. In the third inning, Nico Giarrantano's three run home run made it 7-0.

AquaSox starting pitcher Jheyson Caraballo (4-2) turned in his second shortest outing of the year. In 2 2/3 innings he allowed seven runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three. His shortest outing was a two inning stint against Salem Keizer in Everett on July 15.

The AquaSox pulled to within 7-4 in the fourth inning that was capped on a two-out two run single by Charlie McConnell. McConnell was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Nick Rodriguez made things interesting in the eighth inning with a two-out RBI double that scored Bobby Honeyman making it 8-6. Rodriguez batted 3-for-4 with a run scored. Honeyman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

AquaSox catcher Cal Raleigh finished the game 3-for-5 with a run scored.
