Ninth Inning Rally Falls Short
July 31, 2018 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils (3-4, 21-24) could not complete the comeback bid on Monday night as the team lost 11-10 to the Boise Hawks (2-5, 23-22). After trailing by six runs going into the eighth inning, the Dust Devils battled back to bring the game within one run in the final inning.
Tri-City dealt with an early deficit after the team's starter Cole Bellinger surrender eight runs in two innings of work. The offense, which has continued to thrive in the series against the Hawks, fought throughout the night to make it a close game. Luis Asuncion had two hits, including a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Owen Miller once again delivered at the plate, finishing the night with a pair of doubles.
The Dust Devils will send right-hander Sam Keating to the mound on Tuesday in the series finale. Boise will counter with left-hander Alec Byrd. Tri-City will return home on Wednesday to begin a five-game series against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. It will be Hero Night presented by Pita Pit. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
