
Four Sox Named to NWL All-Star Team

Everett, WA - The Everett AquaSox are proud to announce that four members of this year's team will be representing the Northwest League in Grand Junction, Colorado on Tuesday, August 7 when they face off against the Pioneer Baseball League. RHP Jheyson Caraballo, LHP Michael Plassmeyer, OF Josh Stowers and 2B Connor Kopach join a star-studded cast from the NWL.
Jheyson Caraballo, 22, right-handed pitcher from Caracas, Venezuela signed with the Seattle Mariners as a free agent in 2017. Caraballo is tied for first in the NWL with four wins while striking out 29 opponents. Last season for the Greenville Astros and Gulf Coast Astros, Jheyson took the mound 14 times with 47 innings pitched and recorded 37 strikeouts.
Michael Plassmeyer, 21, left-handed pitcher from the University of Missouri was drafted by the Mariners in the fourth round this year. Plassmeyer has started for the Frogs in 8 games this year with a 1.84 ERA. In his 14.2 innings pitched he has struck out 27 while only allowing one walk. During his three years at Missouri, he pitched over 200 innings while ending his career with 199 strikeouts.
Josh Stowers, 21, an outfielder from Louisville was a 2nd round pick of the Mariners, 54th overall. Stowers is in a three-way tie for the most home runs on the AquaSox with four and has the second most RBI with 20 RBI. From July 7 to July 24 Stowers increased his batting average from .205 to .291. During that time, he also had an eight-game hitting streak which included a seven-game RBI streak. Josh enjoys playing at Everett Memorial Stadium as he is currently hitting .340 while playing at home.
Connor Kopach, 23, second baseman from Southern Illinois was selected by the Mariners in the 25th round this year. Kopach leads the Frogs with 52 total bases including a team-leading tie for doubles with Stowers, 8. Connor has done well at the plate when playing on grass compared to turf as he is currently hitting .340 with an OPS of .892. Kopach finished his senior year at Southern Illinois batting .336 and has continued his hot bat in Everett with a .293 average.
