Anton Forsberg Reassigned to Springfield Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated goaltender Curtis McElhinney off Injured Reserve and assigned goaltender Anton Forsberg to the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

McElhinney suffered an upper body injury in his season debut at Ottawa on Oct. 18 after stopping 15-of-17 shots in 27 minutes vs. the Senators. The 31-year-old has compiled a 29-37-5 record, 2.98 goals-against average, .902 save percentage and four shutouts in 98 career NHL games. Last season, he went 10-11-1 with a 2.70 GAA, .909 SV% and one shutout in 28 games with Columbus.

Forsberg, 21, did not play in two games since being recalled by the Blue Jackets on October 19. He has gone 1-2-0 with a 2.36 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in three games with Springfield this season, stopping 82-of-89 shots faced. He is 4-2-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average and .940 save percentage in seven career AHL games since making his North American professional debut with the Falcons late in the 2013-14 season.
