(Portland, ME) - The Portland Sea Dogs (65-57) completed a 3-game sweep of the Altoona Curve (55-71) with an 11-3 victory on Thursday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd of 7,368 at Hadlock Field. Portland earned their first sweep at home since taking three straight from the Connecticut Defenders on April 14-16.

Dave Gassner (6-5) won his fifth straight start for the ‘Dogs, working six strong innings on just three hits, no walks and three strikeouts. Gassner retired 18 of 21 batters faced and allowed only one runner to reach scoring position.

Lars Anderson tied a franchise milestone, becoming the 4th player in team history to hit 2 grand slams in one season - Luke Wilcox in 2001 and John Roskos in 1997. Anderson finished 2-for-5, 3 runs scored and his grand slam gave Portland an 11-0 lead in the sixth inning. The big-fly came off Blair Johnson and traveled over the Maine Monster.

Mickey Hall homered for a second consecutive day, lining a solo-shot over the right-field wall in the second inning, giving Portland a 2-0 lead. Ryan Khoury knocked losing pitcher Christian Castorri (1-3) out of the game, lifting a 3-run homer over the Maine Monster.

In the fourth inning, Iggy Suarez (2nd inning RBI single for the game's first run) led off the frame with a single and stole second base. Bryan Pritz advanced Suarez to third on a ground out and Zach Daeges lined an RBI single.

Altoona scored three times in the seventh inning off Miguel Asencio. Jonel Pacheco had a run-scoring ground out for the Curve's first run. James Boone blooped an RBI double down the right-field line and Melvin Dorta laced an RBI single.

Daniel Haigwood and Mike James completed the sweep with perfect frames. Haigwood fanned two and James struck out the side to end the game.

Portland will host Harrisburg on Friday night at Hadlock Field - game time is 7:00 PM.
