Mike Carp homered and drove in three runs and the Binghamton Mets defeated the Reading Phillies 9-1 at NYSEG Stadium Thursday. Binghamton took two of three in the series.

The B-Mets (65-61) went ahead in the first. Peeter Ramos led off the inning with a single off Edgar Garcia and stole second before scoring on Carp's double to right.

Binghamton tacked on two more in the second. Ambiorix Concepcion tripled and scored on Salvador Paniagua's single before Martinez reached Garcia (0-6) for a double, plating Paniagua for a 3-0 lead.

Carp's solo homer leading off the third accounted for Binghamton's fourth run.

Reading (49-75) tallied their only run in the fourth on Luke Appert's sacrifice fly off Eric Brown (6-9). The righthander limited the Phillies to five hits over six innings.

The B-Mets loaded the bases in the sixth on singles by Josh Petersen and Concepcion and a Jose Coronado intentional walk before Anderson Machado's free pass forced in pinch-runner Caleb Stewart. Martinez followed with a single to center that brought in Concepcion and Coronado.

Binghamton loaded the bases again in the eighth on Coronado's double and walks to Martinez and Ramos. Carp drew a bases-loaded walk to score Coronado before Martinez came in on Shawn Bowman's sacrifice fly.

Brown was followed by Major League rehabber Billy Wagner, who tossed a 1-2-3, 16-pitch seventh, striking out two. Casey Hoorelbeke finished with two shutout innings, retiring six of the seven he faced.

Friday, the Binghamton Mets play the first of three against the Bowie Baysox. Lefty Mike Antonini (0-1, 4.70) will start for Binghamton against Zach Clark (2-1, 3.57) of Bowie. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Prince George's Stadium with the radio broadcast beginning at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
