
Americans Complete Weekend Sweep

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Rapid City Rush by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Allen Event Center, as the Americans completed the weekend sweep going 3-0-0-0.
The Allen Americans scored twice in the opening period, with goals 38 seconds apart. First Trevor Ludwig, his 2nd of the season, then Brian McMillin notches his 2nd of the year to give Allen a quick 2-0 lead in the first period.
The Allen Americans cashed in on the power play in the second period, when Austin Smith found the back of the net for his first of the year, and first as a member of the Americans. Rapid City cut the lead to 3-1 late in the second with a shorthanded goal from Dylan Clarke to make it a 3-1 game.
No scoring in the third period, as the Americans held Rapid City in check, picking up a 3-1 victory completing the three in three, moving into sole possession of first place in the ECHL Central Division.
The Americans are off until Friday night when they open a two game weekend set with the Brampton Beast at 7:05 pm. Tickets for both games are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (972) 912-1000.
The three stars of the game, as voted on by Maurice Fitzgerald of Pro Hockey News were as follows; Dylan Clarke of Rapid City the number three star scoring the only Rush goal, Riley Gill with 29 saves was the number two star, and Austin Smith, who recorded his first goal as a member of the Americans, the number one star.
