ANCHORAGE - Back-to-back power play goals by Corey Syvret and Brendan Connolly generated a second period rally, and the Alaska Aces defense held the Stockton Thunder to just 15 shots in a 2-1 victory before 5,393 at Sullivan Arena on Saturday.

The Aces, who surpassed Stockton in the Pacific Division, claimed back-to-back wins for the third time this season and grabbed their fourth win in six games, went 2-of-4 on the power play while Niklas Lundstrom faced a light workload with 14 saves. The Aces improved to 16-4-0 in the last 20 regular season meetings with Stockton, including a 6-1-0 run at Sullivan Arena.

Ryan Hayes' power play goal with 18.5 seconds left lifted Stockton to a 1-0 lead to end the opening period. Tyler Maxwell threw a low shot on net that glanced off Lundstrom. Hayes collected the loose puck and flipped his fourth goal of the season under the crossbar.

The Aces turned the tables in the second period after back-to-back penalties by Tyler Shattock (kneeing) and Shawn Boutin (boarding) in a span of 30 seconds. Corey Syvret hammered a one-timer at the left circle, set up by Greg Wolfe, at 11:07 for a 1-1 tie. On the ensuing 5-on-4 situation, Brendan Connolly took the puck in the right corner, looked the point with a pass and earned a deflection off the Stockton defense which ricocheted past Shane Owen for a 2-1 lead with 7:26 remaining.

For the second straight night, Lundstrom only saw four shots in the final period as the Aces managed the clock with a one-goal lead. They kept Owen pinned in net until 15 seconds left in regulation, when Lundstrom came up with one final save on a Peter Sivak re-direction at the doorstep.

Owen stopped 34 shots with the loss.
