Dayton plated the first run of the game in the opening inning against Hot Rods starter Zack Trageton in his first start of the season for Bowling Green. The Hot Rods took their second lead of the series in the second inning against Dayton starter Conner Curlis. Alvarez singled to center with one out, and Jordan Qsar followed up by homering in a full count to give Bowling Green a 2-1 lead. The Dragons extended their lead in the fifth, this time with Siani scoring from second on a sacrifice fly to center to extend the Dayton lead to 4-2.
The Hot Rods got a run back in the seventh against Jerry D'Andrea before the lefty exited due to injury. Alvarez led off the frame with a triple to right and scored when Qsar lined a ball back up the middle for a single that was deflected by D'Andrea to make it a 5-3 game.
Bowling Green tied the game and chased reliever Eddie Demurias from the game in the eight. With one out, Ruben Cardenas, Erik Ostberg, and Seaver Whalen all singled to load the bases and Alvarez singled to right, scoring Cardenas and Ostberg to make it a 5-5 game.
The Dragons walked off the Hot Rods in the bottom of the ninth with reliever Nathan Witt on the mound. Bautista led off the inning by reaching on an error and went to second on a sacrifice bunt.
