Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS - Chris Crane scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and Greger Hanson potted an empty-netter to help Allen (23-14-2-1) get past Wichita (9-24-4-4) by the final score of 3-1 on Saturday night at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Ian Lowe had the lone tally for the Thunder with assists to Landon Oslanski and Christian Isackson.
Casey Pierro-Zabotel got the Americans on the board with a first period marker at 6:19. Aaron Gens and Dyson Stevenson assisted on the goal.
Wichita tied it up in the second as Lowe got to a rebound in front of Joel Rumpel on the power play at 4:45. It was the first power play goal the Thunder had scored against the Americans this season.
In the third, Crane gave Allen the lead five minutes into the third as he got open in front of David Shantz and beat him just inside the post to make it 2-1. Shantz was lifted with just under two minutes to go in the third period for the extra attacker. Hanson caught a pass up ice and scored the empty-netter to finish the scoring at 3-1.
Lowe recorded his seventh of the season. Isackson has points in three-straight (1g, 3a). Shantz suffered the loss, stopping 23 of 25 shots. Rumpel claimed his third win against the Thunder this season, stopping 27 of 28 shots he faced.
Wichita went 1-for-5 on the power play. Allen was 0-for-3 on the man advantage.
The Thunder heads to Allen tomorrow afternoon to take on the Americans at 4:05 p.m.
