Steelheads Shut out Aces 2-0 Friday

January 23, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Idaho goaltender Jack Campbell made 34 saves, and Brandon Trook's first period goal was all the Steelheads needed in a 2-0 win over the Alaska Aces Friday at the Sullivan Arena.

Trook snapped a wrister from the right hash marks at 13:25 of the first period that got through Alaska goaltender Troy Redmann for his first goal of the season. Andrew Carroll got the lone assist.

After a scoreless second period, Idaho got an insurance goal from Jefferson Dahl, his 16th, off an Alaska turnover at 11:29 of the third period.

The Aces outshot the Steelheads 34-24 and tested Campbell often, but couldn't get to rebounds when they were available. Idaho's defense also did a nice job of clearing the zone efficiently.

Campbell stopped all 34 shots that made it through to him for Idaho, while Redmann, who also was outstanding, made 22 saves for Alaska.

The two teams will play again Saturday, 7:15pm AST at the Sullivan Arena.

The Aces face the Idaho Steelheads Saturday at 7:15 and Sunday at 3:05 at the Sullivan Arena. For tickets, stop by the Aces ticket office at 15th and Gambell Saturday noon to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 1pm, or go online at www.alaskaaces.com.
