NORFOLK, Va. - The Elmira Jackals snapped the Norfolk Admirals' four-game winning streak with a goal late in the third period for a 3-2 win at Scope Arena Saturday night.

The Jackals were first to hit the twine, as Admiral Greg Chase sat for high-sticking. Forward Cason Hohmann's shot from the top of the left circle found its way into the back of Norfolk netminder Ty Rimmer's net at 6:52 in the opening frame. The period ended with the Admirals trailing, 1-0.

Norfolk evened the score just 50 seconds into the middle frame after Devin Mantha gained possession off of the boards in Elmira's zone. Mantha found Gabriel Verpaelst, who then shot it from the left point. C.J. Motte knocked down Verpaelst's attempt, but Alexis Loiseau swatted it past Motte's stick side for the 1-1 tie.

With 5:46 remaining in the second, Elmira regained the lead. Tyler Gjurich collected the puck off the wall after a shot deflected off of Rimmer. Gjurich dished it to Hohmann, who scored his second goal of the night from the edge of the ring at 14:14. After 40 minutes of play, the Admirals left the ice down, 2-1.

In the third, Chase notched the equalizer after Loiseau fed him a cross-ice pass through the neutral zone. Chase carried it and swooped into the slot, scooping a backhander over Motte from the top of the crease at 4:03, tying the game, 2-2.

At 17:35, defenseman Kevin Clare converted on a power play as Alexandre Ranger sat for slashing. Clare's unassisted goal put the Jackals on top for the remaining 2:25 to seal a 3-2 victory.

Rimmer denied 26 of 29 Elmira shots, while Motte managed to block 44 of 46 Norfolk attempts. The Jackals capitalized on two of their four power-play opportunities, as the Admirals went scoreless during four man advantages.

Norfolk will host the South Carolina Stingrays at Scope Arena on Friday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
