HEAD-TO-HEAD - This is the sixth meeting of the season between the Thunder and the Americans. All-time, Wichita is 18-27-6 against Allen and 9-12-5 at home in the series.
TODAY - Wichita and Allen play the second game of a three-in-three against each other this afternoon. Both teams have played in three-straight overtime games over the last week. Wichita lost on Saturday and Monday to Utah, both by the final of 3-2 and then lost last night against the Americans, 4-3. Allen lost in a shootout to Cincinnati last Sunday by the final of 4-3 and then lost by that same score on Monday afternoon to the Cyclones. Last night's 4-3 outcome was also the final score during the last meeting between the Thunder and the Americans. Wichita has lost both games in the season-series that has gone into overtime. In fact, the last three games in the series have been decided by one goal.
GOALIE MATCH-UP - Joel Rumpel is 2-0 against the Thunder this season, winning last night's game 4-3 in overtime. With Riley Gill out with a concussion, Rumpel with have to take over the workload for the Americans. He's sporting a GAA of 2.47 and a save percentage of .914 against the Thunder. Grant Rollheiser has seen Allen twice, going 0-1-1-0 with a GAA of 3.89 and save percentage of .888.
SERIES LEADERS - Chad Costello leads all scorers in the season-series with 11 points (4g, 7a). David Makowski has two goals and four points in four games against Wichita. Michael Neal and Christian Isackson each have four points in five games against the Americans.
OVERTIME - Wichita lost last night to Allen in overtime, 4-3. It was the third-straight game that the Thunder lost in overtime over the last seven days. Since December 18th, Wichita has played a ton of games lately past regulation, appearing in nine of its last 16 contests that needed either overtime or a shootout. Wichita is 7-6-4-4 in one-goal games this season, tied for third in the league.
KERBY - Kale Kerbashian found Christian Isackson to get the Thunder on the board last night. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has points in his last four contests (2g, 4a) and eight in his last seven games since coming to Wichita. This weekend will be his first meeting against his former team since joining the Thunder. Kerbashian played two seasons in Allen, winning two CHL titles.
THREE-IN-THREE - Wichita and Allen are in the middle of a three-in-three with the first two games taking place in Wichita. After Saturday's game, the Thunder will travel down to Allen to face the Americans on Sunday afternoon. The two teams will play one more three-in-three this season towards the end of February. Wichita has one more home game against the Americans on February 26th and then will finish the season-series with four-straight at the Allen Event Center.
RED HOT - Kenton Miller has been the Thunder's hottest player as of late. He scored his ninth goal of the season last night and has points in his last six games, which is a season-long streak for a Thunder player (2g, 4a).
