Last Night

Daniel Ciampini and Cody Sharib scored early goals just 52 seconds apart and Mac Carruth made 29 saves as the host Fuel held on for a 2-1 win after Jared Knight scored in the second the period for the Mallards.

Race

With last night's win the Fuel moved into third place in the Midwest Division, just one point behind the second place Mallards.

Splitsville?

The Mallards tonight gun for a split of their two game series in Indianapolis.

Back-to-Back

The Mallards have now lost back-to-back games. A 7-2 loss to Kalamazoo Sunday preceded last night's setback.

Slow Starts

The Mallards have fallen behind 2-0 early in each of their last two games. Sharib last night scored the second Fuel goal at 3:14 of the first period. Kalamazoo jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Mallards just two minutes and 26 seconds into Sunday's game. The Mallards have been outscored 6-0 in the first period of their last two games.

On the Road Again

Last night's game was the first of five in a row on the road for the Mallards. After completing their two game series in Indianapolis tonight, the Mallards next weekend visit Kalamazoo (Friday), Cincinnati (Saturday) and Toledo (Sunday).

Drought

The Mallards have scored two goals or fewer in each of their last three games (and a total of just five goals during that stretch) and have produced two regulation goals or fewer in each of their last five games.

Stingy

The Mallards have allowed two goals or fewer in four of their last five games.

Streaking

Austin Coldwell's team season best seven-game point-scoring streak (1-9-10) and seven-game assist streak ended last night.

Between the Pipes

Brody Hoffman suffered the loss in goal last night despite making 35 saves. Hoffman has faced at least 37 shots in each of his last six starts.

Debut

Knight scored while making his Mallards debut last night after being assigned to the Mallards by Iowa (AHL) Thursday.

Rook

Matt Neal leads the Mallards in goals (11), is tied for sixth among ECHL rookies in goals and is tied for eighth among rookies in points (26).

Iron Mike

Among defenseman, Mike Monfredo is tied for fourth in the ECHL in assists (20) and tied for fifth in points (24).

Head to Head

The Mallards have gone 2-5-0 against the Fuel this season and 0-4-0 in Indianapolis. Tonight's game is the final meeting between the two teams at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The Mallards have scored just once in each of their last three games (all losses) against Indy. They have scored two or fewer goals in regulation in each of their seven meetings with Indy and have totaled only 12 goals (compared to 18 for the Fuel) over the course of the season series. The Mallards and Fuel will clash a total of ten times.

Special Teams

Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play last night. The Mallards have failed to convert their last nine man advantages and have scored just once in their last 22 power plays. They now rank fifteenth in the ECHL on the power play (16.6 percent). The Mallards rank sixth in the league in penalty killing (86.0 percent).
