Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque, NM - The Isotopes offense plated seven runs over the first three frames, including three RBI from Wynton Bernard, and held off a couple of Tacoma rallies to win, 7-6, Wednesday night at Isotopes Park.

With the win, the Topes snapped their five-game losing streak.

Albuquerque collected a combined 10 hits, three doubles and a triple. Four Topes players had two-hit performances: Bernard, Ryan Vilade, Taylor Snyder and Colton Welker. Vilade and Elehuris Montero registered the other two RBI to go along with Bernard's three.

Vilade got things going from the jump with a leadoff double. He came around to score two batters later on a Montero sac fly. The following frame, the first run of the four-run frame came home on a wild pitch. Bernard then laced an RBI double to left. Vilade collected his second hit, a single, to drive in Bernard. The final run of the inning came on a throwing error, giving the Topes a 5-0 lead.

Tacoma got on the board in the top of the third behind a two-run homer from Joe Odom. However, Albuquerque responded with two runs in their half of the frame on a Bernard two-run triple.

The Rainiers added runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth, bringing the score to 7-6 in favor of the Topes.

Dillon Overton started for the Isotopes and picked up the win in his second start of the year. He went 5.0 and allowed three runs on five hits and one homer with nine punchouts. Jake Bird picked up his first save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Topes Scope:

- Four Isotopes players tallied two-hit performances. All failed to register the first three-hit game of the year.

-Overton fanned nine on the night, which is the most punchouts for a starter this year and the most by an Isotope since Dereck Rodriguez on Sept. 29, 2021.

-Overton became the second Topes pitcher (Ryan Feltner, twice) to reach the 5.0 inning mark.

-Both Montero and Scott Schebler had four-game hit-streaks snapped.

-Welker swatted two hits, registering his team-leading fourth multi-hit effort in six games.

On Deck: Right-hander Matt Dennis looks to pick up his first win of the season in game three of the six-game series. He will be opposed by lefty Nick Margevicius.
