
Sugar Land Bests Round Rock in Slim 2-1 Final

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Round Rock Express (4-4) dropped game two of the team's six-game series against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (3-5) by a final score of 2-1 on Wednesday night at Constellation Field.
Space Cowboys starter LHP Jonathan Bermudez (1-0, 0.87) claimed the win after allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five batters during his 6.0-inning outing. The loss went to Express RHP Ryder Ryan (0-1, 2.25), whose one inning of relief saw the game-winning run cross home.
Along the Train Tracks:
The Express jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when 3B Davis Wendzel sent a solo home run into left field.
Space Cowboys SS David Hensley tied the contest at one apiece when he hit a leadoff triple in the fourth frame then scored as C Michael Papierski grounded out.
Sugar Land took its 2-1 advantage in the fifth inning thanks to a solo home run from CF Alex McKenna.
E-Train Excerpts:
In addition to hitting his first home run of the season, 3B Davis Wendzel hit a perfect 3-for-3 during the contest as he knocked two singles to go along with his trip around the bases.
C Meibrys Viloria made his first start for the E-Train, hitting in the seventh position. He finished 0-for-2 with two groundouts before C Yohel Pozo entered the game in the sixth inning as a defensive substitution.
Express RHPs Matt Moore and Yerry Rodriguez posted scoreless innings of relief as Moore finished with three strikeouts during 2.0 frames on the bump and Rodriguez fanned one during one inning.
Next up: Game three between the in-state foes is set for Thursday night as Express RHP Cole Winn (0-0, 2.25) takes the mound opposite Space Cowboys RHP Brandon Bielak (0-0, 10.13). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. tomorrow night at Constellation Field.
