Barry Brust stopped 43 shots and Paul Albers recorded a three-point effort as the Houston Aeros downed the Peoria Rivermen 3-1 at Carver Arena Friday night.

Houston opened up a 2-0 lead in the first period on Albers' first goal of the year, a power play marker at 5:59 from Brandon Rogers and Morten Madsen. Adrian Foster followed with his third of the season on a cross-ice goalmouth feed from Joel Ward at 16:12.

Peoria struck back when Martin Kariya cruised into the slot, tucking the puck past Brust on the backhand as he cut past the Aeros net. Mike Glumac and Alex Hellstrom notched the helpers on the goal at 13:42 of the second stanza.

Former Rivermen Troy Riddle sewed up the Aeros win at 11:01 of the third period from Albers and Peter Olvecky, who extended his point-scoring streak to four games with the assist.

Brust was solid in net for Houston, making several key saves including 20 in the final frame for his third straight win. Marek Schwarz turned aside 16 shots in the loss for Peoria.
