
P-Bruins Defeat Sharks 5-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 5-2 Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Martins Karsums, Matt Hendricks, Vladimir Sobotka, Jeff Hoggan and Pascal Pelletier. The 10-1-1 P-Bruins are back at The Dunk Saturday, to take on the Norfolk Admirals at 7:05 p.m.
The P-Bruins opened up the scoring only 2:41 into the opening period. From the slot, Karsums took the puck on a pass from Pelletier. Karsums fired the puck into the back of the net to give Providence a 1-0 lead. The P-Bruins took a 2-0 advantage on the power play at the 10:26 mark. Hendricks tallied from just outside the crease with Matt Lashoff and Brett Skinner recording the assists. The P-Bruins wrapped up the scoring in the opening period at the 13:11 mark, taking a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. Karsums took a shot from the top of the right face off circle. The puck was tipped into the net by Sobotka, who was waiting right outside the crease. Pelletier had the second assist.
In the second period, Providence took a 4-0 advantage at the 1:39 mark. Right after a P-Bruins power play expired Skinner sent the puck from the neutral zone to Hoggan cutting down the left wing. Hoggan scored from the left side of the net with Jonathan Sigalet picking up the second assist. At that point Worcester went ahead and pulled netminder Thomas Greiss after he stopped only ten of 14 shots. The Sharks got on the board at the 2:15 mark, only 36 seconds after the Providence goal. Craig Valette scored his first goal of the season with Ashton Rome grabbing the lone assist. The P-Bruins went into the second intermission leading 4-1.
In the third period, the P-Bruins took a 5-1 lead on a goal from Pelletier. At the 2:17 mark, Pelletier tallied his fourth goal of the season. Sobotka and Skinner grabbed the assists. The Sharks retaliated with a power play goal from Dan Spang at the 4:32 mark. Riley Armstrong had the lone assist. At the 9:12 mark of the period Providence goaltender Jordan Sigalet collapsed in net. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital and when he left the building was awake and conscious. Please check providencebruins.com for further updates. Mike Brown came into replace Sigalet and played the remaining 10:48 without allowing a goal. Providence went on to the 5-2 victory.
Sigalet stopped 26 of 28 shots and Brown made two saves, while Greiss made 10 saves and Taylor Dakers made 15 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 1-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
