West Valley City, Utah - The Alaska Aces (9-4-1-0) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (7-4-2-1) 5-0 Saturday night at Maverik Center. The Aces broke the first place tie with Utah in the ECHL's Mountain Division with the win.

Utah controlled the first period by outshooting Alaska 14-8 and drawing three power-plays to Alaska's one, but they were unable to get anything past goaltender Gerald Coleman who earned his league-leading third shutout of the season. The Grizzlies also had nine quality scoring chances to Alaska's four in the opening frame.

In the second period, the tide changed as Alaska tallied three goals and built a 3-0 lead. Before it was all said and done, Alaska had built a 5-0 lead.

Utah opens a four-game Thanksgiving Week road trip Wednesday in Bakersfield. Face-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. The Grizzlies return home to play 10 of 12 games during the month of December starting December 2, 3 and 4. Face-off all three nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
