In an outing on June 10, Newsom was given the win as he faced three batters in the top of the tenth and struck out the side allowing his teammates to score in the bottom of the tenth for the win. Wyatt Toregas is .988 defensively in 52 games this season. He has been superb at throwing out the opposition catching 13 base stealers and picking off two on the year. Offensively, he has had some great performances this year as well. On June 25 he went two for four with two RBI and a 2-run home run that put the Aeros ahead of Bowie and helped secure the win for Akron. He also put up big numbers on May 29 against Altoona going three for three with two doubles, two RBI and a walk. He scored the winning run in the sixth and the Aeros won 6-4. He was placed on the Disabled List from June 9-21 but on the year is averaging .234 with 41 hits, nine doubles and 25 RBI.

Asdrubal Cabrera has been hot all season as his batting average has not dropped below .300 since opening day. He leads the team with 21 stolen bases and a .338 batting average while he is in the top three in the Eastern League in four different categories: runs (1st, 64), stolen bases (3rd, 21), hits (3rd, 92), and batting average (3rd, .338). His 92 hits puts him in second place on the team while he has 41 RBI and 17 doubles on the season thus far. Cabrera had an outstanding performance on July 1 going three for four with two runs, a home run and a walk. Another stellar performance occurred on June 5 when he went two four with three RBI and two doubles. He currently has an eight game hitting streak (6/23-7/2) in which he has had 12 runs recorded.

Akron manager Tim Bogar will manage the Southern Division as Akron is the defending Southern Division Champions. This is his second season as the Aeros skipper and he led them to a league-best 87-55 record last year. He is on pace to do the same in the 2007 season as the Aeros have the best record in the Eastern League at 51-31 (as of 7/2).

The 2007 Eastern League All-Star game is hosted by the Connecticut Defenders and will be held on Wednesday, July 11 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut.
