AirHogs Fall to Dogs in First-Ever Meeting

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Casio Grider finished with two hits, and Cui Enting and Carlos Contreras combined for four inning of relief without allowing an earned run, but the Texas AirHogs fell to the Chicago Dogs 9-2 Tuesday night. The matchup was the first ever between the AirHogs and the expansion franchise based in Rosemont.

Zhu Jinghao (0-1) got the start for the AirHogs and was tagged for seven runs (six earned) over the first three innings. He suffered the loss in his first start of the season.

The Dogs were led by Trey Vavra, who finished with three hits and three RBIs. Joe Benson racked up two hits and picked up two RBIs.

Dillon Thomas and Song Yunqi picked up the RBIs for the AirHogs on a sacrifice fly and a run-scoring base hit in the third and seventh respectively. Grider finished with a double, a triple, and a run scored. The AirHogs left 13 baserunners vs. five for the Dogs.

Michael Wagner (1-3) picked up the win for the Dogs, going five innings while limiting Texas to five hits and one run. He struck out three and walked four in earning his first victory of the season.

Cui Enting picked up for Zhu Jinghao in the fifth and went three frames while keeping the Dogs to four hits and two runs (zero earned). Carlos Contreras struck out the side in the eighth.

Texas (5-24) and Chicago (9-20) will meet again tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Miguel Rosario (0-4, 4.77 ERA) will start for Texas. RHP Josh Goossen-Brown (2-2, 4.73 ERA) will start for the Dogs. A live broadcast of all the action will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
