Aeros Rally to Beat Rampage 2-1

SAN ANTONIO (December 27, 2010) - The San Antonio Rampage scored within the first five minutes of the game but the Aeros rallied to steal a 2-1 victory Monday night at the AT&T Center. The Rampage are 22-9-1-0 on the season and remain on top of the Western Conference standings with 45 points.

San Antonio jumped on the board first with a power-play goal by Rampage center Bracken Kearns at the 4:11 mark in the first period to give San Antonio an early 1-0 advantage. Rampage defenseman Michael Stone fed Petr Prucha the puck at the left wing circle and his one-time slapshot off Houston goaltender Anton Khudobin was punched back in on the rebound by Kearns.

Just over a minute later, Houston tied the game with a shot by Carson McMillan that deflected off the right post and bounced in behind Rampage netminder Al Montoya at the 5:29 mark of the opening frame. Nate Prosser and Khudobin provided the assists on McMillan's sixth goal of the season.

The Aeros extended their lead to 2-1 at the 13:24 mark of the first with a shorthanded goal by Robbie Earl. Houston center Cody Almond beat a Rampage defenseman at the blue line, skated in on Montoya and left the puck at the doorstep for Earl to tuck in under Montoya for the Aeros' third shorthanded goal of the season. McMillan was credited with the second assist for his second point of the night.

Khudobin stopped a season-high 39 of 40 Rampage shots while Montoya turned away 15 of 17 Aeros shot attempts.

The Rampage continue their three-game home stand on Wednesday when they host the Oklahoma City Barons for the first time in franchise history at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. They will also face off against the Barons on Friday at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
