Admirals Tame Wild 4-3 in Shoot-Out

Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Admirals beat the Iowa Wild 4-3 in a back and forth shootout game Monday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Taylor Beck had a goal and an assist in regulation and contributed another goal in the shootout to help lead the team to the win.

The win was the fourth in four tries this season against the Wild and snapped a two-game losing streak for the Ads.

The first goal of the game went to Iowa when Brett Bulmer drove the puck down the right side of the ice. He started to get cut off by Tony Bitetto so he made a backwards spin move toward the net and lightly shot it at the net. The puck found its way past Magnus Hellberg and after a replay confirmation the goal put the Wild up 1-0.

The Adsgot their first power play opportunity 33 seconds into the second period when Jon Landry got called for slashing. On the ensuing power-play Beck brought the puck into the offensive zone at the left point and faked like he was going to take a slap shot. He then passed it down to Austin Watson who was at the left circle. Watsonacted like he was going to wrist one towards the net but pulled it around Johan Gustafsson to make the score 1-1 at just the 1:10 mark.

The Admirals were able to take the lead at 8:23 into the second after another Wild penalty. Bryan held the puck at the right circle and fed it to Colton Sissons at the right of the crease. Sissons wristed one top right for his 13th goal of the season.

The Wild were able to tie the game up just 1:30 into the third period when Kyle Medvec had the puck just in the blue line. He slapped one towards the net that found its way through a few Admirals defenders and past Hellberg to make the game 2-2.

The score was not tied for long. Charles-Oliver Roussel got the puck at the point and made a pass to Simon Moser at the right circle. Moser held the puck and found Taylor Beck waiting for the feed on the backside. Beck got the puck and fired it into the back of the net to put the Admirals up 3-2.

The Wild were able to tie the game up once again with 8:03 left in the third period when Chad Rau deflected a Brian Connelly shot to knot the game at three

There was no scoring the rest of regulation or during the overtime so the game went to a shoot-out. The first man to shoot was Beck. He started going right and then came back center before wristing one past the right pad of Johan Gustafsson to put the Admirals up 1-0.

Magnus Hellberg stopped the next four Iowa shooters before Vinny Saponari won it for the Admirals when he beat Gustafsson with a backhander over the glove in the top of the fifth round.

The Admirals have the next four days off until they face the Chicago Wolves on Saturday January 11 in the 5th installment of the Amtrak Rivalry.
