
Seven Former Bulldogs Named to Olympic Teams

HAMILTON, ONTARIO - Seven former Hamilton Bulldogs will represent five different countries amongst the 12 men's ice hockey rosters for the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Those named as Olympians include forwards Marcel Hossa (Slovakia), Max Pacioretty (United States) and Tomas Plekanec (Czech Republic); defencemen P.K. Subban (Canada) and Yannick Weber (Switzerland) as well as goaltenders Jaroslav Halak (Slovakia) and Carey Price (Canada).
Halak played three seasons in Hamilton, from 2005 to 2008. In 69 regular season games with the Bulldogs, he posted a record of 38-27-2 with a 2.10 goals-against average, .930 save percentage and 11 shutouts. He currently plays for the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.
Hossa played two seasons in Hamilton, from 2002 to 2004. In 94 regular season games with the Bulldogs, he recorded 72 points (37 goals, 35 assists) and 63 penalty minutes. He currently plays for Riga Dynamo in the Kontinental Hockey League.
Pacioretty played three seasons in Hamilton, from 2008 to 2010. In 82 regular season games with the Bulldogs, he recorded 72 points (25 goals, 47 assists) and 73 penalty minutes. He currently plays for Hamilton's NHL affiliate, the Montreal Canadiens.
Plekanec played four seasons in Hamilton, from 2002 to 2006. In 233 regular season games with the Bulldogs, he recorded 176 points (71 goals, 105 assists) and 234 penalty minutes. He currently plays for the Canadiens.
Price played two seasons in Hamilton, from 2007 to 2008. In 12 regular season games with the Bulldogs, he posted a record of 7-5-0 with a 2.49 goals-against average, .906 save percentage and one shutout. He also played 22 playoff games with the 'Dogs in 2007, earning a record of 15-6 with a 2.05 goals-against average, .936 save percentage and two shutouts. He was named most valuable player of the Calder Cup Playoffs as Hamilton captured its first AHL championship. He currently plays for the Canadiens.
Subban played one season in Hamilton, 2009-2010. In 77 regular season games with the Bulldogs, the reigning Norris Trophy winner as the NHL's best defenceman recorded 53 points (18 goals, 35 assists) and 82 penalty minutes. He currently plays for the Canadiens.
Weber played three seasons in Hamilton, from 2008 to 2010. In 148 regular season games with the Bulldogs, he recorded 88 points (31 goals, 57 assists) and 110 penalty minutes. He currently plays for the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL.
Hamilton's next game is scheduled for Friday, January 10th, when they will visit the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres) at 7:05 p.m. at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York. The 'Dogs return to Copps Coliseum on Saturday, January 11th, when they will host the Americans at 7:00 p.m.
