Portland Pirates News Release
St. John's, NL - The Pirates and IceCaps will meet for the third and final game of their three game series tonight at 6 PM in St. John's at the MileOne Centre. Puck drop is set for 6 PM Eastern time for the rubber game of the series. St. John's was victorious in Sunday's contest, 3-1, while the Pirates took last night's game 5-4.
The Pirates took an early lead in last night's game with Brett Hextall and Tobias Rieder tallying first period goals. JC Lipon got one back in the waning moments of the first Period, but the Pirates offense exploded for three more goals in the second, including the first professional goals for both Mathieu Brisebois and Mark Louis. Lucas Lessio had the other Pirates goal in the second. Despite goals from John Albert and Kael Mouillierat in the third period, Pirates goaltender Louis Doming was able to close the door for the last 15 minutes of the game, earning his 5th win of the season and remaining undefeated in regulation for his AHL career.
Tobias Rieder had his 4th multipoint game of the season last night with a goal and an assist and is the second player on the Pirates to reach double digits in goals behind Andy Miele. Brett Hextall extended his point streak to 3 games last night, and has scored three goals over that span.
