January 7, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons defenseman Martin Marincin was selected to represent Slovakia at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
Marincin, a 6-4, 190-pounder from Kolice, Slovakia, has played in 100 games with the Barons over the last two seasons, scoring 38 points (10-28-38). The Edmonton Oilers 2nd round draft choice (46th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft earned his first call up to the Oilers this season. He's appeared in two games with Edmonton.
Representing his country at international competitions is something Marincin has done frequently. He's represented Slovakia twice at the U-18 and U-20 IIHF tournaments.
Oklahoma City is busy this week with three home games beginning Thursday against the Utica Comets. This game was originally scheduled for January 8, but due to travel conditions caused by inclement weather, the game was moved one day.
The Charlotte Checkers visit Oklahoma City for a pair of games starting January 10. Friday Night is Barons night with $2 draft beer and $1 hot dogs from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday is Winter Hat Giveaway night for the first 2,000 in attendance. Plus, someone wins a brand new Chrysler 200 in the Drive Away Every Saturday promotion.
Faceoff for all three games this weekend is 7 p.m.
