January 7, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals look to start a winning streak this week after they earned three of four possible points last week to snap a franchise-worst ten game winless drought.
Blair Jones, Dan Jancevski and Justin Keller gave the Admirals the lead in the third period on Friday night, but Norfolk fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-3 in a shootout at Scope. The Admirals turned the tables the following night, as Bracken Kearns' goal midway through the third period snapped a 1-1 tie to give Norfolk its first victory in ten games by a 2-1 score.
The Admirals will head to Hershey on Wednesday night to face off against their archrivals the Bears, AHL affiliates of the Washington Capitals. Fans are encouraged to come out to Baxter's Sports Lounge to watch the game in another B2 Night at Baxter's. The Admirals return to Scope on Friday and Saturday nights to host the Hartford Wolf Pack, AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers. Saturday night is Pink in the Rink night to benefit the Tidewater affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Please see below for more details.

ADMIRALS' LOG
Norm Milley is on a four-game scoring streak (2G, 2A) dating back to December 29 at Hershey.
Milley's goal on Saturday night was his first power play goal of the season. He has seven assists with the man advantage this season.
Eight of Milley's ten goals this season have come at Norfolk Scope.
Bracken Kearns has points in his last three games (1G, 2A) dating back to December 31 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. His game-winning goal on Saturday night was his first goal as an Admiral.
Goaltender Marc Denis picked up his first Norfolk victory on Saturday night and his first AHL victory since the 1999 Calder Cup Playoffs with the Hershey Bears.
Denis will make his 450th professional appearance when he sees action next (101 career AHL games and 348 career NHL games thus far).
Saturday's 2-1 victory over Bridgeport snapped a franchise-record ten-game winless streak (0-9-0-1) and a five-game home winless streak (0-4-0-1).
Strangely, the Admirals are 5-2-0-0 when scoring two goals in a game but are winless when scoring three goals in a game (0-8-1-0).
Saturday's game was just the ninth this season in which the Admirals out-shot their opponent.
Twelve former Admirals were in the lineup in Sunday night's NHL game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings: Detroit's Aaron Downey played against Chicago's Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Rene Bourque, Cam Barker, Troy Brouwer, Kris Versteeg, Adam Burish, Danny Richmond, Jake Dowell, Dustin Byfuglien and Patrick Lalime.
