Dawes and Moore head to New York

New York, January 7, 2008 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forwards Nigel Dawes and Greg Moore have been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) and forward Ryan Callahan has been reassigned to Hartford.

Dawes, 22, has skated in 21 games with the Rangers this season, registering five goals and one assist for six points. The 5-9, 190-pound forward has appeared in 29 games for New York over the last two seasons, recording six goals and one assist for seven points. Prior to his recall, Dawes had recorded 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points in 20 games with Hartford (AHL). He is tied for second on the team in goals (14), assists (20) and points (34). Dawes also leads the AHL in points per game (1.70 points/game) and is tied for 16th in points (34).

Moore, 23, has skated in 34 games with Hartford (AHL) this season, registering 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points and a plus-22 rating. Moore leads the Wolf Pack in goals (17) and plus/minus rating (plus-22), and his 29 points are tied for second on the team. His 17 goals and 34 points are also tied for fifth and 16th, respectively, in the AHL, and he leads the league in plus/minus rating (plus-22). The 6-1, 210-pound forward has skated in two games with the Rangers this season.

Callahan, 22, has appeared in 24 games with the Rangers this season, registering one goal and 16 penalty minutes. The Rochester, New York native has recorded five goals and two assists for seven points, along with 25 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating in 38 games with the Rangers over the last two seasons. He also skated in 10 post-season contests, tallying two goals and one assist for three points. The 5-11, 188-pound forward returns to Hartford (AHL), where he registered 35 goals and 20 assists for 55 points, along with a plus-seven rating and 74 penalty minutes in 60 games last season en route to being named to the 2006-07 AHL All-Rookie Team.

From today's practice, Brendan Shanahan and Martin Straka did not skate. The Blueshirts return to action tomorrow, January 8, when they will face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Madison Square Garden (7:00 PM). Prior to the game, the team's morning skate is scheduled for 11:00 AM at the MSG Training Center.
