Milwaukee, WI - The Texas Stars (40-24-3-4, 87 Points) were defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (38-26-1-6, 83 Points) 3-2 on Tuesday night in front of 3,143 fans at the Bradley Center. Milwaukee scored three times in the first period and held off a late surge from Texas to win. Milwaukee goalie Mark Dekanich (24-14-4) made 35 saves in the victory. Texas goalie Brent Krahn (14-3-0) stopped 17 of 20 Milwaukee shots in the first period, as the Stars fell to 18-13-2-2 on the road this year. Defenseman Dan Jancevski and forward Perttu Lindgren each scored in the defeat, ending the Stars four-game winning streak. Texas continues a seven-game road trip in Chicago on Friday at 7:30 PM.
Milwaukee built a 3-0 lead after one period of play starting at 11:01 of the first period. Milwaukee's Triston Grant snapped a wrist shot past the glove of Texas goalie Brent Krahn for his 12th goal of the year and a 1-0 Admirals lead. Milwaukee's lead doubled at 14:26 after forward Dave Scatchard snuck a wrist shot past the stick of Krahn for his 14th goal of the season and a 2-0 lead. The Admirals increased their lead to 3-0 with only six seconds remaining in the opening frame. Leading scorer Mike Santorelli carried the puck into the Texas zone and banked a shot off the inside of Krahn's right leg pad for his 22nd of the season. Krahn was pulled after the first period, finishing with 17 saves on 20 Milwaukee shots.
The Stars stormed back in the second period to cut the Milwaukee lead to one by the end of the middle frame. Defenseman Dan Jancevski jumped into the play and took a pass from center Aaron Gagnon in the Milwaukee crease. Jancevski smacked the puck past Admirals goalie Mark Dekanich for his third goal of the year and a 3-1 Milwaukee lead. Texas scored again just 1:31 later to trim the Admirals lead to 3-2. Center Perttu Lindgren brought the puck into the Milwaukee zone and used the defenseman as a screen, blasting a slapshot between the legs of Dekanich. Lindgren's 14th goal of the season was his third in as many nights.
