March 23, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Connecticut Whale News Release
HARTFORD, March 23, 2010: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack have signed defenseman Lee Baldwin to an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement.
Baldwin, who agreed to terms on an NHL contract with the parent New York Rangers Monday, comes to the Wolf Pack from the University of Alaska-Anchorage. In his freshman season this year with the Seawolves, the 6-4, 205-pound Baldwin scored one goal and added nine assists for 10 points in 32 WCHA games, while serving 51 minutes in penalties. His total of nine assists ranked third among team defensemen, and Baldwin had the fifth-most penalty minutes on the Alaska-Anchorage squad. In addition, the 21-year-old Victoria, B.C. native ranked second among Seawolves freshmen in assists and tied for third in freshman points.
Prior to his year at U. Alaska-Anchorage, Baldwin played three seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), logging a total of 150 games with the Burnaby Express and Victoria Grizzlies and registering 20 goals and 74 assists for 94 points, along with 174 PIM. Baldwin was a BCHL All-Star in 2008-09, when he led all league defensemen in points for the Grizzlies, with 13-41-54 in 56 games.
The Wolf Pack's next action is this Friday night, March 26, at home vs. the Adirondack Phantoms, on Guida's Family Value Night.
