Center Nick Dodge recorded an assist in each of Albany's four games last week to earn his club's Player Of The Week nomination. The Oakville, Ontario native is one of three players on the River Rats to have played in all 73 games this season, and his four-game assist-streak is one game shy of Albany's 2009-10 season record. Carolina's 6th round selection (183rd overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft was also the only Albany skater to play in all 80 games in 2008-09 during his rookie campaign. Dodge is currently tied for eighth on the team in scoring with 34 points, including a career-best 15 goals.
Rat Bites:
- DALPE DEBUTS - Forward Zac Dalpe made his professional debut with the River Rats on Saturday night in Binghamton. Carolina's 2nd round pick (45th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft inked a two-year deal with the 'Canes after completing his sophomore campaign at Ohio State.
- EAST DIVISION FAR FROM SET - The second place River Rats have a six point lead over Norfolk and a seven point lead over Wilkes-Barre, but if those team win each of their games "in-hand" on Albany, the River Rats' lead shrinks to just one point over the Penguins and two points over the Admirals.
- ROOKIE SCORERS - Albany boasts four of the AHL's top 15 rookie goal scorers. Chris Terry and Jamie McBain are tied for ninth in the league with 40 points a piece, while Stefan Chaput is in 13th place with 37 points and Zach Boychuk is tied for 14th with 36 points. Boychuk also ranks second among rookie scorers with five game winning goals, and McBain's 20 power play points rank 5th, while his four shootout goals are tied for third.
- LEAGUE LEADERS - Jerome Samson is tied for seventh in the AHL scoring race with 68 points, including an AHL third-best 34 goals. Samson also leads the league in shots, with 306. Zach FitzGerald tops the circuit with 275 penalty minutes, including a league-high 69 minor penalties. Nicolas Blanchard's 23 major penalties rank fourth in the AHL.
